Dear Partners in Ministry,
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
This time of year sings a powerful reminder of the purpose for our deputation and soon departure (January 15) to Uganda. Christmas spreads social cheer through parties, presents, travel, and décor; but the real joy and peace come only through understanding and meditating on God's greatest Gift to man, HIMSELF IN THE FLESH. "Why," you may ask, "are you moving halfway around the world, away from relatives, friends, and church family?" The answer.to take a present given by God 2,000 years ago and present it to a group of people in desperate spiritual need. In mythology, Santa Claus gets the privilege of spreading joy to boys and girls. In reality, we who are saved have the honor of spreading an eternal joy to those who will trust in Christ.
Monthly Support Update:
Glory to God in the highest. We have reached the 96% mark. With only 4% left to go, Kristy and I are greatly anticipating how God will supply. Harvest Hills Baptist out of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Friendship Baptist Church from Highland, Arkansas, have been the latest additions to our support team.
Ministry Update:
"My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory." Once again God has proven Himself faithful. In dealing with the insurance company regarding Kristy's hospital bill for complications during childbirth, I found out last week that they issued a check to the hospital for a little over $5,600. This left us owing just $900 dollars on her hospital bill. With not having maternity insurance and just a small coverage for complications, we believe this is a miracle. "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord.he turneth it whithersoever HE will" (Proverbs 22:1). Praise to God, who is sovereign in all things and is giving toward His children.
Container Update:
Our container left for Africa a little later than we expected. On Friday December 17th a large crane lifted the container and placed it on the back of a semi. It should be clearing the port in Norfolk, Virginia on December the 24th. The crucial part will be getting it through the US port without having to be unloaded. We will keep you updated on its progress.
In His Service,
Tony & Kristy Applegate
