“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory…” Eph. 3:20-21
Dear Partners in Ministry,
Deputation has officially begun, and the Lord has definitely done “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” On September 16, Kristy and I began our 2 1/2 week journey in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada. Although our original trip was for the purpose of being in the missions conference of Grace Baptist Church, God opened the door for 4 other speaking engagements in the Maritimes. Calvary Faith Baptist Church, in Sonora, Nova Scotia, was the first church with which we shared our burden of Uganda. Pastor and Mrs. Bray were a joy to be around, and the small but lively country church treated us extremely well. Our second stop was in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on that Sunday afternoon. Again we were received warmly. It is so easy to preach and share a burden when the people you are preaching to have a desire for missions.
The missions conference with Grace Baptist Church in Moncton, New Brunswick was a great encouragement to us. We were with two other missionary families, the Brind’Amours and the Nicodemus’s. It was exciting to see and hear how God is blessing the Brind’Amour family in Quebec. They have been church planting in Quebec for 5 years, and God has given them a church facility of their own. Quebec is a hard Catholic province, but God is working mightily through the Brind’Amour family. Our biggest blessing at the conference was fellowshipping with our dear friends Pastor Jason and Amy Cochran and seeing how God is working in their ministry. During our seminary days, Jason and I prayed together for God to lead and give us wisdom for my decision to be in Africa for 10 months and his decision to work in Moncton, Canada. Now after Jason and I have gone through initial decisions for ministry, we look back and praise the Lord for His faithfulness and direction in our ministries.
The last two meetings were with Fundamental Baptist Church in St John, New Brunswick and then Bible Institute at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Moncton, New Brunswick. Pastor Hunter in St. John and Pastor Friesen with Emmanuel are both men who love missions and have such a burden for the people of New Brunswick.
Kristy and I were overwhelmed with the generosity and friendliness shown by the churches in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. We are so thankful the Lord has given us a wonderful start to deputation, and we realize that this is due largely to your prayers.
We are currently in Long Beach, California, at a missions conference with Gethsemane Baptist Church. We are excited about how the Lord will use us at our meetings here as we speak in junior church, classrooms, and chapel plus show our video presentation. On our trip here, Kristy and I were able to travel through the Denver area and spend a little time with the Achenbachs, whom Kristy knew from Guam. On Wednesday, the Lord blessed us with a meeting at Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, Colorado. What a kinship we felt with Pastor Cross and the people there.
We are privileged to be serving the Lord and excited to see how He will lead and guide in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and support.
In His Service, Tony & Kristy Applegate
