November 2003
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:19Dear Partners in Ministry, Another month has come and gone, and we are continuing to see God’s blessings. The vehicle we were using had 217,000 miles on it, yet the Lord allowed us to travel through the passes in the Colorado mountains and into Long Beach, California, and then on through the deserts of Nevada and Arizona. We were two hours from our destination in Midland, Texas, when we began to hear a loud knocking noise in the engine. Power began to decrease, while our prayers rapidly started to increase. We were so thankful when we pulled into our resting place for the night. The next day we took the car to a mechanic...the lifters and arms in the engine were damaged and would cost over $1400 to repair. With 218,000 miles by this point, the car was not even worth that much! God provided a better solution. He laid it on someone’s heart to purchase a vehicle for us, and we left Midland in a ’98 Chevy Tahoe (and did not personally have to pay a dime for it). God continues to supply our needs. Thank you for your prayers. I was reunited with many friends from my youth pastor days in Midland, Texas. On Sunday morning October 19 we presented our work at Colonial Bible Church. The pastor, Brian Fairchild, has been a long-time friend. It was exciting to see God working in the hearts of the people for missions. In the evening we were at Midland Baptist Temple, where I had been youth pastor for 3 years. It was good to see Pastor Gunter and his family again. I was amazed how many teenagers I did not recognize because they had grown so much since I was last there. Kristy and I were humbled at the generous giving from both churches. We were also reunited with the Mabees, whom we had not seen in years. What a pleasure to talk about the things of God and how God is working in lives! I would love to fill you in on every little detail regarding all the churches we visit and present our work in, but since it would take many pages of writing, I’ll just give an overview. Capitol City Baptist Church had a power-packed mission conference with an energy I have never seen. At Tri City Baptist Church we were able to see many friends. The new shoes were a particular blessing and answer to prayer. Lighthouse Baptist Church in Emporia, KS was a delight. East River Baptist Church in New Caney, TX took very good care of us. We have made some lasting friendships in our travels thus far. As of November 20, 2003 God has brought in over 50 percent of our monthly support. We are pressing on toward our goal for returning to Uganda in January 2005. Thank you for your continued support. In His Service, Tony & Kristy Applegate
