“That man was made in the image and likeness of God is fundamental in all God’s dealings with man.” Evans

The Creation of Man

  • God formed man out of the dust of the ground (Genesis 2:7)
  • God created man in His image and likeness. (Genesis 1:26-27; James 3:9)
  • God’s image in which man was created consists of knowledge, righteousness, holiness; moral attributes and not physical likeness. (Ephesians 4:23-24; Colossians 3:10)
  • God made man with mental faculties and the ability to know God through faith in Christ. (Genesis 1:26,28; Philippians 3:10)
  • God created Eve, the first woman, out a rib removed from Adam. (Genesis 2:22)
  • God created man with body, soul, and spirit. (I Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 4:12)

The Fall of Man

  • The reasons for the fall of man
    • Man chose to sin out of his own volition (Genesis 3:6)
    • Temptation came from an outside source. (Serpent-Satan) (Genesis 3:1-5)
    • It was deliberate transgressing of a divinely marked boundary. (Genesis 2:17)
    • It was a positive disbelief in the Word of the Living God. (Genesis 3:6-7)
  • The results of the fall of man
    • Adam’s sin brought sin to the entire human race. (Psalms 51:5; Romans 5:12)
    • Adam and Eve were immediately aware of their sin. (Genesis 3:7)
    • The world was cursed (Genesis 3:17-18; Romans 8:20-22)
    • Mankind lost face-to-face fellowship with God. (Genesis 3:8-10)
    • Adam and Eve began to die physically. (Genesis 3:19)
